About Us

Animal Medical Center, Valrico

valrico veterinarySince 1988, Animal Medical Center in Hillsborough County, Florida has earned a reputation for providing state-of-the-art veterinary care by a service-oriented staff that continually meets and exceeds our clients' expectations. Founded by Dr. Jim Antuñano in Brandon, Animal Medical Center moved to its current Valrico veterinary location in 1997.

We are pet owners ourselves and understand that your pet is a unique and important family member. We also understand how important it is to you that your pet always receives the best medical care at a reasonable price.

Animal Medical Center strives to provide the latest technological and medical protocols while ensuring that you are informed and have a voice in the care of your pet. By understanding healthcare options, we believe you are able to make choices that best suit your pet's needs. It is our goal to combine the latest in modern veterinary care with old-fashioned personal care and service.

As animal care professionals, we understand that the best way to provide your pet with a long, happy, and healthy life - while keeping veterinary costs down - is through preventive care. Comprehensive wellness exams, combined with a balanced approach to vaccinations, are the cornerstones of your pet's health care at Animal Medical Center. We also provide and recommend thorough dental care, personalized puppy/kitten and senior wellness examinations, dermatologic and cardiac care, parasite screening and control protocols, microchip pet identification, a full range of diagnostic services, and more.

However, preventive care does not begin and end at our Valrico veterinary facility. When you come in for an appointment, you receive important home health care advice as well as new information and recommendations for the care of your specific type and breed of pet.

We also know that accidents and illnesses can happen even to the healthiest of pets. This is where Animal Medical Center really excels. The skill and expertise of our veterinarians is enhanced by modern diagnostic imaging equipment, in-house medical testing capabilities, a complete surgical suite, and a wide range of internal medicine know-how and resources. Additionally, our ability to manage complex medical and surgical cases reduces the frequency of referrals to specialists, allowing you to receive care for your pets from people you have come to know, at a familiar and convenient location, and at a cost far lower than what a specialist would charge.

We are very proud of the reputation we have earned for the quality of veterinary care we provide to our Valrico veterinary clients and their pets. We mean it when we say that every pet needs a vet and we are proud to treat your pet as if he or she were our own.

As an AAHA-accredited animal hospital since 1991, Animal Medical Center voluntarily chooses to be evaluated on strict veterinary standards. Hospitals accredited by AAHA must demonstrate an exceptional level of veterinary care and client service. Every three years, our animal clinic is re-evaluated to make sure we are keeping up with industry updates.

Animal Medical Center chose to become AAHA-accredited for a variety of reasons, including the desire to continually improve our practice operations and our veterinary team. Approximately 3,000 veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada have made this commitment to meet the highest standards of veterinary care.
